When it comes to restoring a damaged or weak tooth, we know that time is critical. Instead of having to come back and forth to our office over the coming weeks to get a dental crown, our Walled Lake, MI, dentists are offering a same-day solution that can give you beautiful dental crowns in just one appointment.

What are same-day crowns? 

Sometimes decay, infection or injury causes the inner workings of a tooth to become damaged. When the pulp is damaged it’s important to go in and remove it with a root canal. However, to preserve the damaged tooth and prevent further damage we recommend that the tooth receive a dental crown. In the past this tooth-shaped cap required two dental visits; however, with CEREC crowns we are now able to restore your weakened tooth in just one visit. 

What should I expect when I get same-day crowns?

When you come in for your CEREC crown we will first prepare the tooth for the crown by shaving it down and then we will take impressions of the tooth. With our CAD/CAM technology, we can take precise images of your tooth using a small digital camera rather than dealing with the messy molds that you might remember from the past. These photos are then automatically uploaded onto our computer screen, which creates 3D images of your tooth. 

From there, our Walled Lake, MI, family dentist can use our CAD technology to design a natural-looking, same-day dental crown. Once designed, the CAM technology immediately starts working to create your dental crown while you wait. Once the crown is fabricated we will permanently cement it over your tooth. This whole process only takes about an hour and a half.

Are same-day crowns right for me? 

Same-day crowns can be a great option for many of our patients. If you are dealing with a damaged tooth and our Walled Lake, MI dentist recommends getting a dental crown, a busy schedule no longer has to get in your way; however, same-day dental crowns are not a good option for someone who is dealing with a severe crack or dental damage that lies below the gumline.
